We're having a very Top Gear Christmas Eve. We vastly enjoyed the test of whatever that tiny, tiny horrible French car was. The practical test, set in Belfast. It ended excellently. (NB: James May is still Mr Pedia's woobie.)
Mr P gave me another model airplane. As soon as I finish gluing the Spitfire together (have it about 50% done), I'll be building a Zero. I'm hoping to do a P51 Mustang after that.
I also note that there is Buffy/Giles fic on the AO3 that I have never read before. I assume it's been lurking somewhere unfindable on LJ this whole time. Man, I hate LJ as a venue for fic. But! Goodies like this! New to me! But alas unfinished.

One: Well, I've joined the masses at the AO3, aka the "archive of our own". I've only posted a few stories so far but I'll probably eventually get everything up there. It'll be nice to have a backup archive in addition to my singing and dancing one. Performance seems sludgy, particularly on story posts. Perhaps this is the Yuletide rush.
It also seems buggy. I'll be filing some reports.
Two: I note that I'm doing a rip-snorting job so far of failing to answer comments. I soldier onward posting as close to daily as I can manage.
Three: I'm having a bit of a problem with the Caspian piece in today's music field. As in, it won't come off repeat. You can listen on youtube or on last.fm. Possibly the signature music of the Iceland story, if things continue on this way. Every story I write has an iTunes playlist for listening as I write, and for most of them I end up fixating on a single song that seems to represent the emotional core for me.
I love the tag somebody has given it on last.fm: "the sound of falling dust". Hmm, somebody's taste overlaps with mine... I think I'm going to make a playlist called that and figure out what I'd put in it.
Four: No idea if I'm going to manage to finish this Buffy/Oz/Xander thing in time for xmas day. 5600 words, and Oz is being balky. He's demanding that he trigger all sorts of character movement and stuff, and be the reason it's a story instead of just a slice of life thing. "Story" being "a thing that can only happen once", because change is at its heart, and all that jazz. But sorry, Oz, it's about Buffy not you. Deal.

Resolved: that House this season is actually quite good, even though it's stomping all over our hearts in various ways. I am finding the House-Wilson interactions satisfying. (Note that I do not ship them, but am content to enjoy the friendship. Ditto for Holmes and Watson.) Speaking of which...
Resolved: that I will be finding a metal flask and filling it with something very very strong to bring into whatever screening of the Robert Downey Jr Holmes movie I end up going to this weekend. Because I might well need it to survive.
Resolved: that I am scared to write Whofic because the canon is huge and mostly unknown to me.
Resolved: that it's time for a meme. Unpopular fannish opinions meme? Anonymous answer-any-question meme? Suggest a meme. Or leave me a prompt and maybe the unpredictably-firing neurons will do something with it.

Today is a day of a crippling headache, so I'm spending what ought to be writing time on catching up on you all. There might be commentage from me, be warned. Or there might not. I have some holiday Lush bath bombs, and am pondering the de-headaching properties of a long hot bath with a nice paperback book.
Also, the cats have decided that 5am is a nice time to be fed. They know how to enforce it, too. The dogs, at least, have the decency to prefer to sleep in.

Today I read, in fandom wank, the epic tale of Victoria Bitter and the very very strange places that very very sick people can go using fandom as their vehicle. Wow, epic weird. This person has recently been writing Harry Potter fic using an assumed persona with a claimed background that, honestly, people, fails every single plausibility test I can imagine. Why was anyone taken in? I boggle.
Oh, the humanity. The ever-amusing humanity.
Oh, fandom, how I'm not really sure I missed you the last few weeks. Except then I read some Top Gear fic and remembered that fandom is fun.
ObFicWittering: Considering delaying long, plotty fic that is making me read about metallurgy so I can instead finish the frothy conclusion to "Liegeman". Which requires little research.
