Hey all, I hope everyone had a great Christmas Day.  I'm posting my recs early today as I have guests arriving later.

What better way is there to kick back and relax after eating too much yesterday than by reading fanfic today? :)

Today I'm bringing you stories by two of my favourite writers in the Buffy fandom.

My first rec is The Snowman part 1 and part 2 by froxyn.  There is something about a drunken Giles that is just so cute, especially when he thinks he and Buffy are being watched by a snowman. Of course, this is magic snow, so anything is possible if you happen to be in the wrong place at the wrong time! This fic is rated FRAO.

My second rec is The Christmas Present by laurtew. Giles goes Christmas shopping. He wants to buy Willow something for her computer and in doing so, he could be facing one of his biggest challenges yet.  As this is a short piece, my final rec today is another one from Laura. Something To Think About has Giles and Xander discussing ways to raise money to feed 50+ Slayers. The twist in the ending is genius! I should point out here that I was one of three beta readers on this fic, but don't let that put you off - it is a great read. :)

Any how, all that remains is for me to pass along my compliments of the season and to wish everyone a happy, safe and prosperous New Year.

I've been rewatching season 2 on Hulu, and looking forward to the upcoming marathon and SEASON THREE!!! and remembered that I'd written a few fics.

 Yes, I know that this is six shades of very late and I'm very sorry about that. I have no excuse but that I've spent the last two days trying to flay my own skin off.

That said, I'm going with a hurt/comfort theme to my choices. The first one is set in season five, after Joyce is dead and it's rated FRAO. Willow and Tara are living in the house. Buffy comes home from patrol one night to find the house dark and quiet. Turns out Willow and Tara quieted everything down because Giles isn't well. He's so ill that he can't even keep his eyes open and Buffy starts to panic at the idea of losing him. She's been in love with him for a while and with his lowered defenses from the illness, he lets it slip that he loves her too. Once he's feeling a bit better, his Giles-ness comes through and he decides she's be better with someone else and he knows if he just stands strong, she'll realise that too. But Buffy being Buffy, well, you know how determined she can be. Will she get her man? It's very well written and I loved every second of it. I particularly love the scene where Buffy gets upset at him and tells him to just leave her alone and he goes all intense asking her if she really thinks he doesn't want her. He gives us this line: "Would it make you feel better if I said I dream about you every night? That every waking moment I imagine how your naked body would feel beneath me? Well, feel better!" It's called Taking Care of You by Adele Heidenreich.

The other choice is by the same author. This one is also set in season five, but this one has Joyce in it and it's also rated FRAO. Buffy sustains a head injury on patrol and cannot remember who she is. In fact, the only thing that seems familiar to her at all is Giles. She clings to him, both emotionally and physically, which makes things a bit dicey for the man who is secretly in love with her. The real trouble starts when she comes to his house in the middle of the night and climbs into bed with him. Seems she thinks he's her boyfriend. She's basing that on what she feels when she looks at him. Giles just doesn't know how to deal. It's what he's always wanted, but he knows when she gets her memory back it will all fall to hell. Can he resist her? Of course not. When her memories do come back she does a typical Buffy and overreacts. Now, how is it all going to work out? This one is called A Loving Heart is the Beginning of All Knowledge also by Adele.

In 2007, Alvin and The Chipmunks became a live-action/CGI motion picture event that grossed over $350 million worldwide and turned Alvin (voiced by Justin Long), Simon (voiced by Criminal Minds star Matthew Gray Gubler) and Theodore (voiced by singer Jesse McCartney) into pop sensations. For the Squeakquel, the superstars are left in the care of the injured Dave Seville's (Jason Lee) cousin Toby (Chuck star Zachary Levi), and they have to enroll in school like every other kid.

Since it's only a few more weeks till Chuck FINALLY starts airing again (yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyyy!) the posts to this community have visibly increased in the past few days. This is of course fantastic news because it means new promo videos, episode stills and other tid bits to make us excited but it also means I am going to ask you guys to please read the RULES again before posting to this community, so we can keep this place enjoyable for everyone.

Quick reminder of those that often get overlooked:

• Put ANY (promo) images from unaired episodes of S3 behind an LJ-cut to not ruin the upcoming episodes for those people who prefer to remain unspoiled.

In the 2+ years this community has been in existence this has always gone well but recently I've had a few complaints. I realise it's been far too long since we've had new pictures and everyone is super excited about seeing and sharing them with the other fans but just please consider the people who may not want to see any promos before the episodes air.

• Please TAG your posts. This makes it easier to find your post back when someone is looking for something in particular. If a tag for what you're posting does not yet exist (or you're unsure what to tag it with) you can let me know HERE and I'll create it for you (or answer your question).

• When posting pictures and/or videos make sure that everything you post outside of an LJ-cut doesn't exceed 400 pixels in width as to not break anyone's layout (including that of the community).
